Tuxedo Cat – Perske Pavilion

I’m not quite sure what just happened but whatever it was, it was hilariously ingenious. Joshua Glanc has arrived with his one-man comedy sketch/observational show with a bang! As the audience tries to take their seats some are interrupted by a cleaner trying to vacuum between the chairs and as he stops to take a phone call, resulting in his sacking, he later breaks into song and that’s when we know we’re in for a wild ride.

Glanc makes his way through more than ten sketches, most with completely different characters, switching so quickly and seamlessly between unbelievably varying characters, it’s a wonder he doesn’t get confused. One minute he’s killing with a possessed jerry can then he’s an Asian woman trying to spruik a restaurant. Then he transforms into a rapper with toast for ears, a lollypop man, a stand-up comedian and a pregnant man with lactating silicone breasts. And that’s just to name a few.

A definite highlight, and one of the few recurring characters, was the South American pop star and the unsuspecting audience member (who was excellent at playing along) as we were treated to a performance of his song Magic Magic In My Underpants.

Glanc’s observations and ability to recreate and add a hilarious spin to things is wonderful to watch. Although sometimes it took a little while to get to the punch line, for the most part it was worth the wait. If you took dancing out and added comedy, he would almost be a triple threat. Definitely not to be missed!
