The Garden Of Unearthly Delights – Umbrella Revolution, Sat 13 Feb

Not even the 30 minute delay to the already late night show could dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd once the show got underway. None of us were really sure what to expect, but we were greeted at the top of the show with a mirror-balled homage to War Of The Worlds. From here, you will recognise small snippets of movies played for the crowd whilst we all listened in silence and watched in darkness.

Lip syncing, drag, dance, song, acrobatics, pole dancing and comedy then make up the rest of CULT. Songs made famous by our favourite cult movies or whole scenes or characters that remind us of our childhood and the movies we weren’t allowed to watch whilst growing up.

The performance is definitely recommended for those over 18, but for the most part you would need to be over 18 to have seen these cult movies the first time around. But no matter your age, you will recognise the majority of classic movies played. The Shining, It, Pulp Fiction, Cabaret and Baywatch….yes Baywatch, all make an appearance and seeing Laura Palmer ‘in the flesh’ again was also a treat.

Suitably, our show was Emcee’d by a devotee of cult as was apparent by his performance from Cabaret, and with Le Gateau Chocolat making a surprise appearance and joining in with the encore, the rest of your evening and early morning are set to have you singing all the way home.

Audience participation is a must, and you really won’t want to stay in your seat when THAT song starts, but be warned, if you get a stiletto ‘whoosh’ close to your face, well then, you are probably sitting in just the right spot.
