The Garden Of Unearthly Delights – Spare Room, Fri 10 Mar.

The five time award winner, Demi Lardner is back at the Adelaide Fringe with her new show Look What You Made Me Do.

With the help of Ken backstage (and sometimes on stage), Demi portrays a 46-year-old man named Gavin, who likes to spend time in his ‘man-cave’, the basement. While in his basement one day, Gavin gets ‘locked’ down there – even though Gavin’s wife had called out to remind Demi Lardner sq - GOUD - Adelaide Fringe 2017 - The Clotheslinehim about the door before she left for shopping!

During the bizarre basement ordeal, Gavin transcribes his illogical thoughts in his diary, prattles on the phone Sandra and searches for his secret stash (which he believes holds food), only to realise hours later he may not have been locked down there after all…

The wacky play included the audience members at times. One guest in the front row was asked to play an idiosyncratic game called Who’s Your Favourite Ghost, baffling the audience by recording the response, not to mention Gavin’s (mou)stash was stowed away under a chair in the crowd!

Undoubtedly Demi is a youthful and talented comedian, but I believe this peculiar production mostly appeals to the younger demographic, late teens and twenties for example. I didn’t really get the abnormal variety of humour whereas the rest of the crowd being younger grasped it and roared with laughter.

Irregular and odd, catch Demi Lardner – Look What You Made Me Do at The Garden.
