Port Dock Brewery Hotel, Fri Feb 20

Double Feature is for fans of The Rocky Horror Picture Show the movie, as not only do the band perform the songs, the movie is shown also.

The show is scheduled to start at 8pm but did not start til 8.30pm, so we spent a little time watching the characters going to and from the bar getting drinks ready and generally chit chatting with people in the audience.

It is obvious that the band has worked hard on the music and vocals of this production, as each of the members took on different roles, singing and playing well however, the presentation portion of this production is lacking.

There was no explanation from the band to the gathering crowd that it was their expectation that we were to provide the sound for the movie sections of the performance. Once they figured out that the crowd were not participating, the sound was cranked up, which it made it a little more entertaining for us as. Although the venue is suitable for a band performance, it is not suitable as one that also plays the movie on a wall where a number of patrons could not see, myself included.

Once the movie had finished and all the songs were performed, the band then did a few reprises which allowed the audience the opportunity to jump on the dance floor and really get involved. I can’t help but think they should ditch the idea of the movie and just do a concert of the material, asking for audience partici……pation all the way along.

This is a bit of fun for those who know the movie and enjoy singing along to the band performing the songs, but you may be a little lost if this is your first foray into the world of Dr Frank-N-Furter
