Lunar Big Top in The Pleasure Garden, Perth Fringe World, Sun 29 Jan.

Elixir is physical theatre performed by Head First Acrobats from Melbourne. Three scientists called Cal, Rowan and Thomas search for the elixir of life as they experiment their formulas on themselves and record the results. And, boy, are those results impressive. With each new formula ingested they test their body’s performance with acts of increasing difficulty and with breathtaking dexterity. Each member demonstrates their specialty acrobatic skills and with every execution their athleticism and concentration shows in their sculpted muscular bodies; a feast for the eyeballs and waves of pleasure for the brain.

There were so many truly amazing and stunning feats that left my mouth gaping open – like when Cal does a handstand on top of a ladder (not an A-frame, a ladder on two legs), or wher is where Thomas does a headstand on a swinging trapeze. Then there is Rowan spinning like a coin in the giant ring called a Cyr Wheel. But there is still so much more that wows you. So much more!

It’s not just the acrobatic twists, turns and somersaults that entertain; there is also some brilliant comedy cleverly woven throughout each act. Just like their acrobatics, the boys’ slapstick comedy had impeccable timing that had the entire Lunar Big Top audience in stitches.

Go see this show! I promise you will love it. You will be wow-struck, you will be laughing and you will be thoroughly entertained for the full action-packed hour. Of course, the bonus icing to this jaw-dropping evening is the opportunity to meet the performers after the show!
