Gluttony – The Peacock, Fri 12 Feb

If you are after a show that captivates you so much that you can’t take your eyes off it, LUMINOUS is the show for you. Luminous is a six person troupé of acrobats, jugglers, hula hooping, trapeze and tissue artists whose resplendent brilliance takes your imagination to another place and time.

Visually, LUMINOUS is extraordinarily magnificent and expertise of the performers made this a wonderful show for all ages. With the use of UV lighting and fluorescent body paint these remarkable artists and puppet creatures fascinated the audience from the minute the lights went out. The music was pure synthesized happiness which supplemented telling the story of these inquisitive creatures of the night. The mind-altering incandescent experience of LUMINOUS brings you to another level full of fluorescent blues, greens and orange.

The show is made up of curious child like creatures who utilise their surroundings which are made up of juggling apparatus and hoops. The charismatic fluorescent orange tissue performance was a marvel to be seen utilising their core strength and control.

The entire concept behind this mesmerising performance personified intellectual brilliance. The make-up/body paint and costuming was absolutely outstanding and stunning. The strength, flexibility and sheer talent and prowess of the performers will blow your mind as they use their bodies to create this magical world.

When the lights come back on, it is surprising how ‘normal’ the performers are as your mind will tell you they are the characters they play. I think much of the audience left the venue knowing that they saw something superior to kick start their Fringe season.

LUMINOUS is a show that will transform your mind and I can guarantee you will reflect upon way after you leave. It was simply one of the most exceptionally brilliant and unique concepts of the Adelaide Fringe.
