Cinnabar Red, Sun Feb 16

Christian Andrew explores the concept that music is more than organised sounds – it portrays emotions and enables connections between people and animals. Birds, dolphins, even elephants use sounds and song to carry meaning.

Christian shares his own expressions of music drawn from intensely personal experiences. Bare-foot, he presents his experimental show with raw honesty and simplicity. This involves a multi-media approach, including video, dance and harmonica.

We are shown snapshots of people’s experiences, often of pain and loss, followed by one of his songs that echoes these emotions. The sounds and emotions are familiar, yet the presentation is diverse. He asks us to consider that the circumstances at the time of hearing a song may colour our interpretation of its meaning.

As a self-taught musician, Christian favours folk and roots music, and has a lovely gentle finger picking style on acoustic guitar.

A relaxing show with a thoughtful message.
