Comedy SuperNova’s Mars Room, Tue Mar 10

12 films for the price of one! If you’re interested in seeing a film during the Adelaide Fringe check out the Over The Fence Comedy Festival; a compilation of different short films made by directors all over the world.

Each year has a theme: this year’s is “Love, Angst and Other Deceptions”, played out in many different ways ranging from finding love in older age to the erratic behaviour of bodily functions. The event includes 12 short films in total, each exploring what comedy means to the specific director.

Some particular standouts include Young Heart – a Western Australian film about an older man moving on after the death of his wife and a heart transplant, and the French film Voice Over about the power of a first kiss.

My personal favourite was the short Spanish film Scincerity – a story about entering the work force but with a clever twist. All of the films are well shot, and while there is a range of genres (romance, sci-fi, silent film) and humour (some more serious, others slapstick) there is something for everyone.

This is an excellent opportunity to see emerging independent filmmakers you may not have had a chance to see!
