Gasha From Cirquework ~ Adelaide Fringe 2026 ~ Circus Review

[Circus, Variety, Japan, SA Premiere] GASHA The Moa at Gluttony - Rymill Park Fri, 27 Feb, 2026 GASHA is the highly anticipated masterpiece from Cirquework – the creators of last year’s Fringe favourite, YOAH. Having been blown away by the choreography and eclectic athleticism in YOAH, I arrived at the big top with high expectations of this production and it didn’t disappoint. The opening scene is a beautiful rising sun, the backdrop to the silhouette of a Geisha. The stunning performer strides down the runway-like stage, lets her satin kimono float to the floor before attaching her hair to a vertical rope for one of the most breathtaking spinning aerial acts I have seen. Following this, an international tapestry of circus artists working with silks, a Cyr wheel and hula-hoops  pleased the crowd, but somehow lacked the fluidity and choreographic impact of what I’d witnessed in YOAH. Tying it all together was the master of ceremonies and a formidable multi-instrumentalist with a great sense of humour, who fused ancient strings and percussion with psychedelic drum and bass. Combined with beautifully timed light and laser projections, the musical element of this show was both exhilarating and mesmerising. Whilst for me, GASHA didn’t match the well-finessed movement of its predecessor YOAH, it still offered a banquet of delectable visuals, immense talent and thought-provoking music delivered by a multicultural cast who engaged the audience with style and grace.
