Gluttony – The Octagon, Fri 17 Feb.
Hans is back and ready to take over the world! He has taken inspiration from past and current dictators, but has decided his world domination needs to be full of sequined hot pants, accordions, tap dancing and an enormous amount of camp fun.
There is the usual successful Hans cabaret formula in Mein Camp, including The Lucky Bitches dancing alongside Hans and The Ungrateful Bastards band, but this show had a slightly more political flavour adding more depth to the show. And speaking of getting political, opening night included the Minister for the Arts Jack Snelling MP and Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard AC in the audience, but these famous faces did not appear to ruffle Hans’ feathers.
Tonight, Hans brought huge amounts of energy and frivolity to the stage, which continuously rippled into the adoring audience who were always eager to see what song he will sing and dance to next or what hilarious witty jibe he will have at an audience member as he is the master of being able to get away with saying just about anything.
The songs with re-written song lyrics were some of the highlights of the show, including Jolene by Dolly Parton becoming Pauline (Hanson), ABBA’s Money, Money, Money about Donald Trump and My Favourite Things from The Sound Of Music with an Adolf Hitler twist.
Hans is an Adelaide Fringe institution that works his hot pants off to entertain the crowd. Don’t miss it!
Hans: Mein Camp continues at Gluttony – The Octagon from 8.10pm until Sun 5 Mar.
