The Jade Monkey, Sat 20 Feb

The Jade Monkey, usually considered a music venue, works really well for children and bubble clowning. Dr Bubble and his very able assistant, Milkshake, are bubble experts. And bubbles aren’t all that you get. Prior to the show you’ll find Milkshake out in the foyer, making bubbles with the kids, asking if you’d like bubbles in your tea, coffee or beer!

The two characters have a great rapport together and quickly develop the same with the audience as they take us on a journey through this show, discovering that Milkshake has several things that she is afraid of (and what a great line – why should you be afraid of the dark when Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy all come in the dark (bringing presents and chocolate and money)…. and of course, Dr Bubble and his friends (audience members) work out solutions for this.

Dr Bubble and Milkshake have done a great job of developing this show, costumes, their own versions of bubble making equipment, fantastic tricks, even some tumbling, along with the clowning about, but just as importantly a great narrative with some fabulous twists of plot and positive messages for both kids and adults alike, including positive audience involvement.

As for the bubbles – WOW, smoke filled bubbles, bubbles inside bubbles, square bubbles, a series of bubbles that make a train around other bubbles that can be pushed to rotate around the bubbles, not just as stunts, but well integrated into the show.

If you have kids or grandkids – take them to this show! If you don’t, find a niece or nephew, take your neighbours kids, whatever it takes, just get along and see it!
