Rhino Room’s Howling Owl, Wed Feb 25

Lindsay Webb returns to this year’s Fringe Festival with his new show Next Level, a show highlighting Lindsay’s frustrations at how the majority of society has this innate need to out-do each other and compare one another and ponders whether the grass really is greener on the other side.

Lindsay has this wonderful way of telling stories that are just riddled with jokes, hilarious demonstrations and re-enacting past events that make you wish you were there. He starts the show by likening it to Ikea flat packs and kicking off with some audience banter. Webb doesn’t miss a beat. When he talks to the audience it’s like he’s a mind reader with his hilarious responses flying out so fast and effortlessly.

There were stories of Webb’s children, parenting, politics and our need to outdo each other, leading to a rather hilarious lesson on how to shut down those kinds of people. His story about an unfortunate mishap at a wedding gig and the Emergency Department dramas that ensued left the crowd in stitches. While there were a few dull moments scattered throughout the show it was generally well received.

It most certainly was a fun filled hour and is easy to see why Lindsay Webb still remains a crowd favourite.
