Producers Garden, Tue 1 Mar
Comedy improv group Racing Minds brings you a show that is completely unscripted and unprepared but yet hilarious and somewhat ingenious in the most ridiculous of ways. As we get to meet the members of this once disbanded group we learn they have reunited to pay respect to their dearly missed comrade Swiggy and have come to perform his favourite play in his honour.
Before even entering the space the audience is put in control as we are asked to provide the name of a character, a location, a secret this character holds, a sponsor for the show and the title. What we were about to witness no one could ever possibly predict but as the most absurd of stories unfolds we get to witness the performers comedic reflexes and wit combine to give us a never to be repeated show.
With only the scripts (blank pieces of paper) in their hands and a table full of noise making props, run by special guest Becky Lou, the group starts off the “play” a little awkwardly as they flesh out the story and characters as it comes to them. However, once they have set up the story, they’re off and racing.
As they bounce off each other throughout the “play” there are moments of absurd brilliance and the odd occasion where your attention wavers. Seeing Racing Minds in action is a sight to behold and certainly each show is unique and something that you will never see again.
