The Garden Of Unearthly Delights’ Spare Room, Thu Mar 5

Back from her previous Adelaide Fringe appearance, Adrienne Truscott’s A One Trick Pony is a multi-medium show (combining comedy, video, music, costume changes and even edible goods!) that is both playful and satirical. Like her previous show (Adrienne Truscott Is Asking For It) she skewers the normality of rape culture in comedy, but takes it further by tackling cultural taboos and the irony of performance art.

Though the show (by her own admission) still has a few kinks to work out, it is full of laughs and self-deprecating charm. Truscott speaks about her background in the United States, from growing up in Atlantic City to working in Texas, and all the wacky hijinks that ensue.

Truscott’s stand-up is mixed with bits of film, music and even some gymnastic work that will keep you on your toes. The intimate setting of The Spare Room also allows for audience participation and some back and forth with the artist, so don’t be shy!

If you’re looking for a wacky yet charming hour of comedy, put Adrienne Truscott’s A One Trick Pony! on your watch list.

Elizabeth Harnett
