Adventure Rooms – Mad Scientist, Rundle Mall, Tue 16 Feb
Above the hustle and bustle of Rundle Mall and in it’s permanent ‘not just for Fringe’ space, this business model and idea, created by a physics master in Switzerland… some might say a Mad Scientist himself, has set up shop here in Adelaide. Created here (yes, Adelaide gets this really cool interactive game before anyone else in Australia) to intrigue, infuriate, confuse and elate anyone who has an hour of time and a little thinking capacity to spare.
My time ‘locked up’ in the real Mad Scientist’s home was spent with one friend, although the game allows for up to seven people to be locked up at the same time, in a space where our senses, wits and teamwork were all put to the test.
Such fun was had working out clues, cracking codes or finding keys, all which helped with the next step towards escape. I’m pleased to say we got further then we thought we would but not so pleased to admit that we didn’t make it all the way out, but I’m advised that only 30% of people world wide can do that.
The venue currently has three rooms to escape from so I’ll be back to complete the other two adventures with friends and maybe even some frenemies, as you can compete against each other not just the clock, in this interactive show where you already know you will be the star.
