Rhino Room’s Beer Garden, Thu Mar 5

For a man who is “teetering on the brink of giving up,” Angus Hodge still knows how to put on an outstanding show; not time to give up just yet! He delivers material on a variety of topics with a punchy demeanour that had the crowd engaged from the second he walked on stage (just beware the couch near the front… you may be a focal point!)

Hodge fits a variety of themes and content into the show with a smooth transition to each. He is never in a rush as he navigates through things such as weight loss, a classic story installing light bulbs and a tale of his dream girl. Hodge commanded the stage like a seasoned comedian, working each part of the beer garden with a clearly projected voice.

At one point he called his mum a “sarcastic old bitch”. Hodge then claimed he is “two of those things”. I only know one of them for sure and it’s sarcasm; Hodge has mastered it! Each joke is delivered brilliantly with what becomes a trademark tone throughout the performance. Despite being an “angry little man,” Hodge knows how to make a room full of people laugh; a witty show of sarcastic humour at its finest.
