Rhino Room – Beer Garden, Tue Feb 24

It’s all about The Word… or the dots that indicate the omission of a word. Bec Hill is quirky, original, and clever with words… and pictures. Refreshing, engaging and fast paced, her show puts smiles on faces, provides out-load laughs, along with the occasional groan-worthy joke.

You could be forgiven for thinking you are at a Charlie Chaplin show during the intro when she uses comical theatre and magic tricks to draw us into her childlike quirky world. Her string-and-tin-can phone routine has ‘self-doubt’ on the other end of the line, as she grapples with the voice in her head to contemplate grown up concepts. Bec bravely shares her thoughts about Christianity, hope, and not swearing (unless it’s been agreed upon within the group).

Be prepared for a little out-loud swearing at random things that make her cross! And never worry again about taking free cheese samples. The show is fast-paced with variety, and she proves she is has the audience in the palm of her hand as she switches mood and lighting for a series of straight faced one-liners, then takes us back again to her comical pop-up art on the sketch pads.

Adelaide’s own, she has returned from the UK for our Fringe, and her show is definitely not one to be missed.
