[MUSIC/Rock ~ SA PREMIERE ~ SA]

Kelly’s Room at Clovercrest Hotel, Sat 8 Mar.

T.REXoz kicked off the show with a faithful tribute to Marc Bolan and T.Rex, pioneers of the UK ‘70s Glam Rock movement. There was the wild permed hair, glam sequinned jackets, fluffy feather boas and guest appearances from T.Rex herself!

Interspersed with snippets of verbal history, the playlist started with B-sides and progressed to include all-time faves Metal Guru, Children Of The Revolution, Born To Boogie and Get It On. Vocals were on point with some solid guitar bliss, and despite a few song endings going astray, the crowd sang at the top of their voices and spent the night boogying away.

Next came Vertigo The U2 Experience, who exploded onto the stage with a non-stop line-up of hits from U2. Bono and his band’s musical style evolved over the years from the early ‘80s post-punk era, moving into alternative rock and industrial offerings later. Vertigo delivered their songs with confidence and an intriguing floating quality. Standout songs were With Or Without You, New Year’s Day and their finale One. Both shows were impressive, backed by concert quality sound and lighting at the ‘Clovey’. A great night out.
