Gluttony’s The Bally, Tue Mar 3

Flabbergast Theatre presented an incredibly clever and humorous performance for the Gluttony crowd tonight. It is amazing that two very plain-looking brown leather puppets can express so much expression and be so animated. The six puppeteers behind the two characters are skilled, well rehearsed and know how to express every emotion and action with precision.

Boris and Sergey present a variety of acts such as balancing on fruit, puppet poker with volunteers from the audience and performing the entire dance from the music video of Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights. They were flexible and excellent with the puppets at impromptu events that occur in live theatre. The story was mainly well constructed, especially the flashback story giving context to Boris and Sergey, but the ending was odd and drawn out too much.

The music and lighting worked really effectively inside the small tent and the stage was utilised nicely. Overall, it would be a good show to pop into at Gluttony for some adult puppet fun.
