[THEATRE/Comedy ~ SA PREMIERE ~ QLD]

The Breakout at The Mill, Wed 19 Feb.

Aggy and Frederick are best friends, who recount the trials and tribulations of their past relationships with energy, enthusiasm, and a side serve of self-loathing. Women in the audience might see themselves or a friend in Aggy’s tales of bouncing from one inappropriate relationship to the next, self-medicating with the 1kg jar of Nutella (no spoon required) as she goes. In fact, Nutella may be Aggy’s one true undying love. That, or it’s a fabulous body moisturiser.

Frederick’s tales of virtual love lead us into the YouTube world of ‘Mukbang’, where people film themselves eating (sometimes binging) and upload the video for comment. Frederick’s love for (presumably cold) McDonalds fries is difficult to contain.

Aggy and Frederick’s friendship reminds me of Spongebob Squarepants and his best friend, Patrick Star (and this is said with true affection for those characters), with their all-singing, all-dancing ridiculousness and joie de vivre.

Please go and see this show, Aggy’s dry cleaning bill needs you!
