Royal Croquet Club’s The Menagerie, Sun Mar 1

Briefs has grown in talent, cohesiveness and knowing exactly how to provide awesome entertainment since their last appearance at the Adelaide Fringe five years ago.

Sex does sell and, although the Briefs cast are incredibly easy on the eye, they are all astonishingly talented as well – which keeps the audience cheering for more. Briefs is not lip-sinking drag queens and strippers; this is fierce performance-art drag, incredible acrobatics and skilled mischievous boylesque.

The night is tied together by the hilarious host Fez Fa’anana who, along with the Queen of Briefs Dallas Dellaforce, is one of the only original cast members from the company’s beginnings in Brisbane. Mark ‘Captain Kid’ Winmill and Evil Hate Monkey show us why they have both won the title of Las Vegas King of Burlesque before, Thomas Worrell and Lachy Shelley provided some great acrobatics and Louis Biggs plays the cutest schoolboy dork solving a Rubick’s cube and playing with his yo-yo (while stripping of course). Some of the best acts of the night were group numbers; the opening dance with feathers and glowing briefs was both glamorous and visually pleasing, while the drag queens with their obedient (and sometimes hysterically disobedient) pups was a uproarious piece of fun for all. The raffle prize was something to be totally ‘jealous’ of, and the bird-bath scene is not to be missed.

If you want cheeky hot men with substance and a big variety of incredible talents, then make yourself a part of the Briefs audience!
