[MAGIC/ILLUSION ~ AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE ~ SWE]

Gluttony – Masonic Lodge – Owl Room, Thu 21 Feb.

Charlie Caper is funny, earnest and magical. Everything on his stage is created by him, nothing is improvised and all is organised. His show is dedicated to Opportunity, the Mars Rover that, after 14 years, lost its power supply and ended its mission.

The magical show astonishes with his mysterious vanishing and reappearing bow tie, grabbing lights out of thin air, gravity defying coins, and of course, the captivating card tricks. But by and far, his amazing creations reveal his true calling. From BOB the A.I., the delightful despondent butter robot, the Australian inspired spider-bot and his prototype teleportation device (which would come in quite handy at parties!), all are technological marvels.

Interspersed between all the jaw dropping tricks and mind defying illusions we are educated with history, science and mechanics and if you think that it would be a little boring or tedious, think again. Charlie is charming and witty and enthralling; it was hard to keep my reviewer notes because I just wanted to watch and listen!

His A.I. BOB has words of wisdom and helps keeps Charlie in line and on track. Although he loves his creations there are wise and earnest words of warning to be wary of our development of A.I., it can be there to help us, but it could easily be the end of us as humanity, think Skynet!

This show is thought provoking, comical and enthralling, more than your average magic show, go on, get educated and entertained!
