[CIRCUS AND PHYSICAL THEATRE/CABARET ~ AUS]

Gluttony – The Octagon, Fri 15 Feb.

Circus’Cision really is a cut above the rest. All jokes aside though, and there were quite a few –, most of them hitting their practised mark – there are some serious skills up on stage. Suicycle, death spins, hoola hoops and half naked sexy diablo – don’t mind if I do!

While it’s obvious that tonight’s performers from Melbourne’s Head First Acrobats don’t take themselves too seriously, it is obvious that they take their art and skill to extremes! The concentration and ability that is needed to execute their moves and make them look like fun is a skill of its own, and one they have all mastered well.

When most people think of the word ‘circus’ they think cartwheels and handstands, but it is so much more. From the opening gong and acrobatics, to the last round of applause for the mighty masculine web work, Chelsea Angel, The Amazing Mr Fish, Khal Drogo and Elsa (both pretending to be Daenerys Targaryen Game Of Thrones), Kate, Adam, plus Harley and Cal – the boys from RailedCircus’Cision is the show to see, especially if you have never seen a circus acrobatics performance. You get the best of the best from an array of disciplines.

With the majority of performances tonight timed and choreographed to an awesome soundtrack with some ‘stand up’ and knife throwing added in for good measure, acrobatics, hoola hoops, hat dances of one kind or another and even a little riding of ponies, this late night touch of naughty and laughs is a great way to end any day out at this year’s Fringe.
