[COMEDY/STAND UP ~ GBR]

Royalty Theatre, Tue 12 Mar.

Danny Bhoy’s reputation precedes him and the theatre is sold out, full of expectant people ready for a night of entertainment and laughs. We got that in bucket loads, he did not let us down. He explains that comedians usually write about topical subjects, and that it’s hard not to at the moment because “everything is shit!”

Those on his comedy narrative radar includes politics and politicians of the world (the pretty and the ugly), ponderings on an ISIS guys’ night out (celebrating someone’s last day), and assuring us – with a guarantee of our ticket refund if he is wrong – that North Korea is nothing to worry about because South Korea make phones more explosive than their entire arsenal! He wondered at the snag at an Aussie election, imagining the return of J-Dog, and the marvel of Scotland’s first wine production (not fit for a raffle), which coincidentally aligns with the subject of climate change.

According to the man himself, tonight’s material is new to his ears as it is to ours because, as with most good comedians, he can get an idea spring to mind or a surreal heckle from the crowd, and run with it, with hilarious comedic flair. Although he has no real answers to the world’s problems, he’s not afraid of ‘voter fatigue’; he’ll keep turning up until he finally gets to vote for someone to fix the planet!

Danny Bhoy is funny, quick, relatable, hilarious and a pleasure to watch in action. Whatever you do this Adelaide Fringe, be sure to see Bhoy in action – just, for the sake of not taking anything out of context and f*cking it up, ‘don’t tweet his jokes’!
