The Governor Hindmarsh, Wed Dec 3

The Dead Daisies are alive and kicking! This well-oiled band, supported by Tracer, got the crowd on their feet singing at the top of their voices and blowing away any cobwebs hanging around The Gov! Jon Stevens The Dead Daisies at The Gov - Photo © Catherine Blanch

With an array of original songs and extraordinary covers, The Dead Daisies displayed their fresh approach to Rock‘n’Roll. Originating from bands such as Noiseworks, Doc Neesons’s Angels, Guns N’ Roses, Thin Lizzy, Slash’s Snakepit, Whitesnake, The Psychedelic Furs and more, these guys got together in 2012 and are clearly loving the guitar driven Rock’n’Roll – with a twist. Their brand of creativity mixed with talent = amazing!

The latest original Angel In Your Eyes from their Face I Love EP is superb – I can’t wait to hear that on the radio! It’s Gonna Take Time is a favourite, while Lock‘n’Load was heavy-hitting. The crowd loved the blast-from-the-past covers; Deep Purple’s Hush with synth had great rhythm, Bad Company’s All Right Now blew us away, and their version of Beatles classic Helter Skelter had lots of raw power.

Though Jon Stevens admitted to feeling poorly, he showed true class and showmanship thrashing it out with his still incredibly powerful voice, and together with David Lowy, Richard Fortus, Dizzy Reed, Marco Mendoza and Brian Tichy, The ‘Daisies’ rocked out lots of fun and feel-good vibes into the stratosphere.
