Gluttony – The Octagon, Sat 13 Feb
The two Matts (Matt Tarrant and Matt Brandwood) performed acts of deception on an almost capacity crowd at tonight’s performance. Each Matt has his obvious area of expertise and while the individual feats of Mentalism and Magic were, in each scenario, astounding and mind boggling, the overall feel of the show could have been slicker. Showmanship seemed a little under rehearsed and it looked as though perhaps nerves too were making an appearance.
Sleight-of-hand work was made easier to see by the close up’s of a cameraman whose captured images were played live on the two large screens that adorned the walls.
For each trick, audience participation is required and the ‘Catbus throw of selection’ allows for the unaware audience members to have their five minutes of fame. From card tricks and disappearing jewellery to delightful children’s drawings and being part of a windfall, each illusion is captivating. As Matt Tarrant himself says, some will go home and have a sleepless night wondering just how some of these tricks are completed.
If you love your magic and want a last chance to see how these guys do it, go along to see Deception – The Final Deceit.
Deception – The Final Deceit continues at Gluttony – The Octagon from 6.50pm until Sun 21 Feb.
