[CHILDREN’S/Interactive ~ VIC]

Elder Hall at RCC, Sun 23 Feb.

After a short break touring the globe, Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo has returned to Adelaide to bring all your dinosaur dreams to life. We meet Myles, the zookeeper, who takes us on a whirlwind trip down memory lane to meet some of your favourite prehistoric creatures, gives us all the facts about the dinosaurs we meet along the way and is always there to remind us, these dinosaurs are just puppets.

We start by meeting three cute little baby dinosaurs and gradually work our way up by size. Myles is so engaging and enthusiastic you can’t really help but be enthralled by what’s going on. However, the show would not have been what it was without the amazing work from the three puppeteers that bring all the dinosaurs to life. There is certainly no hiding the fact that there are people inside dinosaur puppets but that is what makes it so good for the kids (and some us sheepish adults) because you know, you will still have a head even if it ends up in a dinosaur’s mouth (this really happened!).

There was lots of audience participation, mostly brave children willing to risk a limb or two and after the show you can get up close to a few of the baby dinosaurs. This show works on all levels, definitely keeping the kids but also the adults entertained. However, while it was advertised for 0 to 12-year-olds, I do wonder if it was a little too long for some of the younger kids in the audience. That aside, if your kids are dinosaur mad, then they will absolutely love this Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo.
