[CIRCUS AND PHYSICAL THEATRE ~ SA/VIC]

Gluttony – Empire Theatre, Tue 26 Feb.

Opening night in the wonderfully air conditioned Empire Theatre at Gluttony, the full house crowd enjoyed the spectacle F**K MY LIFE The Show, the only public place where screaming at the top of your lungs ‘F**K IT!!!’ is acceptable…

Four performers, one on wheels, juggle the problems of life and share relatable personal experiences. Original music plus a voice-over launches the show and introduces the four performers sharing their innermost thoughts: the one who is 6.2ft, the nail biter, the attention seeker, the flattest chest in the cast etc., yet still no-one has their s**t together!

These skilled performers own expert circus and physical theatre abilities with mind-blowingly powerful body strength and absolute agility in each graceful movement – all displayed through tricks on a ladder whilst juggling, executing elegant stunts on stilts in a board, miming acts, amusing skits and the astonishing three person tower. Plus a few audience members relished in their involvement of the potato and a watermelon tricks, and what great circus act is complete without hoola hoops?!

When out comes the F**K IT bucket and juggling battens representing life’s problems, several audience members were handed a different life issues printed on the battens, then each asked to read out what they said before tossing them up to the performers on stage. There the ‘problems’ are juggled then thrown exactly where life’s problems belong sometimes, straight in the F**K IT bucket!

The personal struggles of each performer also unfold throughout the hour. The devastating loss of a parent, no options left but to run, the training that flipped life upside down, and being found unconscious in your bathroom… only to divulge an overdose of hungry jacks was the cause!

F**K MY LIFE The Show Incorporates circus, physical theatre, original music, comedy and relatable real life, a little something for everyone. But get in quick, ONE week only!

4 stars
