Noodle Palace – Pho Barn, Perth’s Fringe World, Sat 28 Jan.

Adelaide’s Frehd The Clown a.k.a. Clownie, welcomes you at the door with this almost childlike curiosity and mischievous twinkle in her eye which draws you into a witty banter with her and with anybody else who is around. Soon you know everyone’s name, who they’re with, what they do and what they’re drinking.

It’s the spirited charm that disarms that has made her a well-known and loved clowning practitioner and entertainer. But this show is not for children. This is different. This is a Frehd The Clown special Adult’s Only show.Frehd The Clown - Clownie - Stripped Bare - The Clothesline

Stripped Bare is literally and metaphorically like this all-access, backstage groupie pass into the performing arts scene and Frehd’s psyche. It’s a very colourful collection of hilarious and unadulterated stories chronicling her life and career of clowning for kids, clowning for adults (there is a difference), as a Ring Mistress, trick rider, trapeze artist, body moulder, dancer, model, producer and manager, venomous snake catcher and handler, rock climber, and Frehd recently completed commando survival training which I secretly think she did it in preparation for this show because her body totally rocks!

What I loved about Frehd is her candidness about her lifestyle choices, its consequences and the way she embraces it with humour… and forges ahead with unabashed gusto into a spectacular finale that you won’t ever forget.

Stripped Bare has earned a well-deserved Best Comedy nomination for Fringe World Awards 2017. I encourage you to go right up and meet Frehd and then see her show; it will be like you’ve just made a really cool friend – because you have!
