[COMEDY/PERFORMANCE ~ NSW]
The National Wine Centre – Galley Room, Mon 25 Feb.
Beth Mc Mullen and her brain are Bright, Proud, and Downright funny! We are immediately drawn in by her warm and authentic presence and her beautiful a Cappella singing. On a re-branding mission for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), she entertains us with song, dance, mime and comedy to share insights about this mental illness and her recovery.
McMullen likens it to spending years in a darkened room when the lights were turned on by finally receiving a diagnosis and undertaking DBT therapy. Now she stands boldly in the spotlight, leaning in, owning it. Beth is a talented actress and her show is thought provoking, original, and quirky.
Costume and character changes simulate the impulsivity and mood changes of BPD, keeping us wondering what is next as she weaves facts and emotions into the sketches to enlighten our understanding of this complex and interesting life.
Delivered with lots of humour and a bit of cheek, and, yes, we can ALL relate to the chocolate cake!
