Labelling herself as a “professional exhibitionist and sex clown from Sydney”, Glitta Supernova presents her one woman show where sexuality and the Metaphysical meet in the middle of a “porno parody” that makes cutting comment on society, media and the meaning of life. The Clothesline is immediately intrigued and emailed Supernova a few questions…

First gig: when and where and how did it go?

“I was only 6 when my family went to a really kitchy restaurant on the Gold Coast. They got all the children from the restaurant and took us backstage and dressed us up as The Village People; I was the Leatherman and they taught us the YMCA. Within moments we were onstage and performing to the parents – it was my moment, I was shining, my future unfolding….. then my brother’s pants fell down mid act (he was the cowboy) and the show had to end as he was crying… I was devastated!! But left with a thirst for bad corrie and handlebar moustaches.”

What drew you into performing?

“It’s in my cellular memories as my grandparents were circus folks in the 30s/40s in Europe and the seedy underworld of glamour and freaks was a natural fit , a place I could be my authentic self and get celebrated for it.”

What is your best recovery technique for forgetting a line?

“Fake it till you make it because nobody knows you are having a brain fart.”

Favourite movie line?

“We didn’t need dialogue, we had faces!- Norma Desmond…”

Favourite imaginary friend as a kid?

“My clitoris.”

Job you currently perform in your alternative life when not performing on stage?

“My “straight job “ I am a makeup artist for fashion TV and film.”

Do you have a secret desire to be a movie star?

“No but I always thought I’d be discovered in the strip clubs by Prince. I’m still waiting to be discovered. tap tap tap…”

What is your hidden talent?

“ I have an inner tradey..”

Tell us something that people don’t yet know about you.

“I’m actually quite shy and introverted, a bit of a nanna in fact!”

Pet hate?

I hate seeing barefoot performers, it kind of creeps me out and triggers me back to the feral 90s ooga booga performance that was usually styled with a lap lap.

Time travel: where would you most love to go and why?

“Beer here Now!!!”

Most memorable thing someone shouted out during one of your shows?

“It wasn’t shouted out while performing but said to me after performing a pub spot by a drunk lesbian: `What did that mean? I come here to drink, I don’t want to have to think!’ It really struck me and showed me where a lot of people are at.”

What’s the best chat-up line you’ve ever heard/used?

“I used this line on my current partner of 9 years… “Do my flaps look big in this?” It didn’t work at the time in fact it turned them off me for another few years but we eventually hooked up because you can’t fight chemistry. “

Any famous last words?

“Game over “- on my tombstone.
