[THEATRE/PUPPETRY ~ ADELAIDE PREMIERE ~ SA]
Noel Lothian Hall – Adelaide Botanic Garden, Wed 27 Feb.
In an entirely new twist to Gulliver’s Travels, this story involves Elizabeth Gulliver, a thirty year old explorer who crash lands on Lilliput, the land of the Tiny people from where she escapes only to find herself in the domain of Brobdignag, land of the Giants. There is where the story takes its twist, when she returns home to find an editor – a feat she finds exasperating in a male dominated world. So she takes the role of a man, and this is where the adventure begins.
As a ‘male’ adventure reporter she goes on lots of assignments with headlining success. She finds herself adoring and detesting her alter ego and after exposing the truth that shouldn’t be exposed, she is sent on an impossible assignment…
The Narrator and fellow actor sets up the story between sets and turns out to be an integral part of the story.
This production is a combination of live actors, puppets, costumes and shadow puppets, along with the lighting and sound, everything together is enthralling.
This is Familia de la Noche’s first Adelaide Fringe foray and it’s fantastic; my 10-year-old son sat delighted and captivated the entire show.
A totally brilliant show that I highly recommend for all ages! Not many shows left so get in quick!
Gulliver’s Travels continues at Noel Lothian Hall – Adelaide Botanic Garden, at various times, until Sun
