[COMEDY/STAND UP ~VIC]

Arts Theatre, Thu 7 Mar.

A stalwart of Australian comedy and all round likeable rogue, comedian Jimeoin in his new stand up show Result! happily imparts his clever and quirky observations on everyday suburban life in his trademark devil-may-care style.

The comic admits himself his show doesn’t have a theme or a message, which is no tragedy as he expertly fills the hour with witty quips, hilarious anecdotes and a few songs for good measure.

From the very start Jimeoin is in complete control of the audience, mustering fits of laughter from the crowd with little more than a witty retort, a knowing smile or a dance of his eyebrows.

Jimeoin, like any good comic, never allows himself to get in the way of a good joke or lose a moment to have some improvised fun with the audience. From tales about the trials on bin night in the suburbs to playing pranks on the family, Jimeoin is clearly still at the top of his game.

With his conversational and irreverent delivery, there is never any pretence or caustic nature to Jimeoin’s comedy; the target of the humour is squarely pointed at himself, making him and his point of view all the more relatable and funny.

Although there was a couple of moments he seemed to lose his train of thought, any fumble is immediately forgiven. Jimeoin effortlessly manoeuvres between set material and riffing with the audience one can’t help but be swept up in communal comedic adoration.
