The Garden Of Unearthly Delights’ Vagabond, Sun Mar 1
This show is one of the most popular and longest-running shows at The Garden and it isn’t hard to see why. The acts don’t take themselves too seriously. There is something for every age here. The five-year-old thinks that showing undies is funny, the eight-year-old is mesmerized by magic tricks and the eleven-year-old can appreciate the trapeze skills of the girls from Pants Down Circus.
The amicable host introduces the acts after doing some clever tricks with rope and balloons. Interacting with the audience and inviting a couple of kids up on stage for audience participation is a hit, especially when one of them walks away with a ten dollar note.
Quite impressive but also flippant was the hoola-hoop girl who got lots of giggles out of my crew. She sure knows how to work those hoops – but even more importantly, she knows how to work the audience. Three male gymnasts, one of whom works inside a giant hoop, were intriguing and we all loved them. There were a couple of acts that weren’t quite as successful as the rest but overall, this is a great show for kids as it shows them a variety of acts. It ends on a high with the brilliant Pants Down Circus.
Kids Comedy Gala is a charming show with plenty of fun for kids from five to fifteen and their parents.
