The Garden Of Unearthly Delights’ Le Cascadeur, Thu Mar 5

Max & Ivan tell the story of Clive and his dad who live in Sudley-On-Sea. The pair has an estranged relationship, which adds to the drama of the storylines we are exposed to, but it’s that relationship that forms the backbone of the hour-long story which we travel through with our hosts.

Clive is a mediocre copywriter who dreams about writing children’s fiction rather than the dull and life-sapping scripts he writes for television advertisements They each showcase multiple characters while onstage and we are privy to the obscure, original people such as Bad John – the local politician who, to start the show, holds a town meeting where we first meet some of the hilarious characters that exist in the minds of our two comics.

Mr and Mrs Webb are droll and monosyballic and spend every moment with each other, yet actually do nothing within the confines of their life. Then there’s the barbeque salesman and his very hot wife, and Rocket the Dog who is owned by a blind man who lives in a nursing home.

These two English gentlemen are hilarious in the variety of people we meet through them; the lack of costumes, pomp and fuss in delivering the shows is refreshing and real. They need nothing other than themselves to get their messages through and the receptive audience responded accordingly with huge applause to finish.
