[COMEDY/STAND UP ~ SA]

The Garden Of Unearthly Delights – The Box, Tue 5 Mar.

The first time I saw Adelaide’s Nurse Georgie perform Was as a warm-up act for Wayne Brady [Whose Line Is It Anyway?] during Cabaret Festival 2018; she was funny then, and the tears of laughter down my aching cheeks proves that she’s even funnier now!

From the first moment she opened her mouth and the let words start pouring out about her personal capers in the nursing world, Georgie Carroll speaks into the minds of even the least-medically inclined members of our audience and the pain in our faces spreads to stitches in our stomachs – and there was I believing that is was a nurse’s job to heal us, not hurt us!

In her 19 years as a nurse, it’s pretty impressive to be the sole cause of four new OH&S policies to be implemented into the workplace of one particular hospital – including one that states that doing cartwheels anywhere in the premises is forbidden. Apparently, in the past year or so, Georgie has spent more time as a patient than as a nurse, but this is definitely one place where schadenfreude is totally acceptable.

The ‘active wear just to make hummus’ story on her short lived journey to health and fitness is totally relatable! Although no longer nursing, and she will tell you all about that in her own way, I look forward to reading her cookbook… whenever she writes it – especially the Minora Majora Trifle!

Definitely for adults, Nurse Georgie Carroll is a riot that had the audience rolling in the aisles. She is one comedian I will definitely be seeing again and again… and again!
