La Bohème – Upstairs, Sun March 1
A Bit Of An Overshare, featuring Claire Healy, is a delightful, frothy romp through some common modern-day issues. There are songs about dating, Facebook, breakup songs, princesses and lyrics that highlight the pure silliness of everyday news. The audience can easily relate to all the material. Claire Healy has a wonderfully strong voice and a very animated and expressive face, which she uses to full advantage throughout this intimate show. Her songs are full of innuendo, biting remarks and extravagant images that will not be forgotten. It was hilarity from the first note.
As a born over-sharer Claire not only relates stories about her experiences with love, including songs about partners and others but encourages the audience to do the same. There are prizes to be won and tonight the delightful audience member Mel assisted. Unbelievably potatoes feature, as do goldfish. The subject matter of her songs is diverse, bizarre and utterly enchanting. The strongest emotions were generated when she explored sexual behaviours.
Tonight Claire discovered unknown relatives and some secrets about the audience that left everyone in fits of laughter. There were sweet incentives to ‘spill the beans’ and much hilarity as Claire Healy made the most of the revelations.
A very enjoyable show that is over too quickly! Highly recommended and you get some unexpected treats as a reward just for being there.
