[CHILDREN’S/MUSIC ~ SA]

The Garden Of Unearthly Delights – Corona Theatre, Sat 9 Mar.

The ground breaker for children’s entertainment, paving the way for the children’s groups of today, returns to his home town for another Adelaide Fringe! Honestly I wanted to go see him for myself, but thought I should probably take one of my children for the experience that is Peter Combe! At 70 years of age, it seems like he hasn’t slowed down at all, and he is still having fun which communicates to his audience of all ages, and it seems I’m not the only adult who wanted to see him either!

Joined on stage by Phil on keyboard and Theatre Bugs dancing and singing with him, the stage is alive with colour and energy. All the classics are there and the show is definitely an interactive one with the crowd encouraged to sing along and join them on stage to dance at the end to Little Groover and Wash Your Face In Orange Juice, an invitation gladly taken up by most of the children and some of the grown-ups too.

Although my 12-year-old companion wasn’t up to speed on all his songs, Peter Combe is now one of his firm favourites. Just goes to prove that classic never grows old.

A show to sing and dance to like no one is watching, with smiles all round this is the ultimate children’s show!
