[CHILDREN’S EVENTS/Circus ~ VIC]
The Peacock at Gluttony, Fri 26 Feb.
Returning for their 10th year at Adelaide Fringe Festival, this time around Petit Circus brings us into their very own restaurant. The three talented performs, or rather your waitress, waiter and chef, take us through all stages of running a restaurant; from taking orders, preparing the meals, serving and they even thought about the background music. Of course it wasn’t as simple as that with lots of tricks and acrobatics thrown in to make it a dining experience to remember.
It all starts with our waiter trying to balance his music stand on various parts of his body so he can play his ukulele, and while he gets there eventually and we get a hear a little tune, the most glorious of sounds is that of the kids giggling and laughing as he tries to do it. There is a string of stunts as the three prepare and plate the food for their customers, from hula hoops to knife juggling, slacklining, aerial silk, juggling food and spinning plates all done without spilling even a drop of food.
The kids were absolutely amazed by the aerial silk and how the waitress effortlessly made her way up and down the silk. The waiter definitely got the most laughs as he got ready to balance on his trapeze upside down while he played his ukulele.
For most adults, we’ve seen this all before, but that’s not why we go. We go for the little people we bring along, for them to enjoy and experience something that may or may not be their first time but puts a great spin on an old classic. So get along to see Petit Circus and ‘Bon Appetit’ your circus experience!
