Rumours – The Adelaide Fleetwood Mac Show gave a fine performance at The German Club as part of Adelaide Fringe 2018. The band themselves comprised of local legends: Nanette Van Ruiten on vocals, Ian “Polly” Politis on vocals and keyboards, Gary Isaacs on vocals and acoustic guitar, Rob Vorel on keyboards, Shaun Duncan on bass, Matt McNamee on drums and musical director and all-round rock-n-roll guru Rob Pippan on guitar, this band boasts a resume that suggests quality and most assuredly, they delivered.

The set was a 75 minute menagerie of tunes from Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album and various gems throughout the band’s history; from the early days of Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac to songs solely written by Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham as well as Stevie Nicks’ collaboration with Tom Petty, Stop Dragging My Heart Around. The sound was quite conservative in level and nicely mixed (perfect for all ages) a large part thanks to the bands live engineer Frank Castel. The veteran performers with, to quote Van Ruiten, “Fleetwood Mac in the blood” eloquently recreated the songs of Mac with fantastic guitar tone and vocal harmonies and irrefutably charmed the gathering with startling alacrity.

It was but a taste of their full show; the perfect appetiser to a complete Rumours gig. With a fantastic crew teeming with great musicianship it is an essential show for the avid Mac fan and a delight to everyone else.

Kudos, Rob and co. You’ve done it again.
