La Bohème, Fri 19 Feb

We enter the dimmed interior of La Bohème as romantic waltz music plays and put on masks, becoming part of the performance. There is an easel with a painting of a Roman orgy. Where will this performance take us? The audience is bemused and uncertain as we wait for Scarlett Belle who arrives totally enveloped in a cloak with mask and feathers in her hair. Over the course of the next hour she reveals her various sexual selves at different ages through clever costume changes and a wonderful selection of songs.

Scarlett Belle is a vivacious, sassy, funny and sexy woman who shares her life lessons of sex and love from the age of four! It is an adventurous woman’s sexual journey with all the predictable pitfalls and discoveries delivered through a series of stories and letters amplified by glorious singing and strong lyrics.

The stories are honest and frank but never confronting or crass. The humour comes when we are reminded of past eras. Scarlett’s Scottish accent is appealing and her voice powerful and absolutely faultless .It is worth the ticket just to hear her sing (If Loving You Is So Wrong) I Don’t Want To Be Right.

Her observations and conclusions resonate with the women in the audience and the men seem to really enjoy the show as well. The final song leaves the audience smiling and grateful for the experience. Scarlett manages to explore serious issues in a most beguiling way.
