ComedySuperNova’s Mars Room, Fri Feb 20

Scott Dooley has returned to Australia to bring us his new show Eva detailing the end of an eight-year relationship, learning to be a nice guy and finding his true love. While the break-up is the instigator behind Eva, it is more about reflecting on the past 12 months, how utterly miserable Dooley’s life had become post-break-up, and discovering that what you put out to the universe is what you get back.

No topic is off limits for Dooley as he details his time as a “bad person”. There’s stories of the break-up, a horrible one-night-stand, getting “that” phone call, Googeling “Chlamydia death”, having kids and even takes a swipe at our “almost racist” heat. His take on dating, how women have mastered the art-form and comparing sweet and sexy versus creeps murderer is undeniably hysterical. Even as Dooley finds love again his cutesy, lovey-dovey stories about his long-distance relationship leaves everyone in stitches.

Dooley seamlessly glides from one joke to the next as he recounts some of his mortifying stories. What amazes me is how he tells these stories like it’s the first time he’s ever told anyone and he’s recalling them himself for the first time, like a time during his “bad person” phase when thoughts of revenge escalate quickly after some bad customer service.

Scott Dooley is a superbly hilarious storyteller that just has this coolness about him that makes the whole room feel awkward but comfortable as he lets everyone into a fascinating time in his life. If you can get a ticket don’t miss out!
