The Crown and Anchor Hotel, Tue 23 Feb

Sophie and Alicia have been through the trials and the tribulations of the Adelaide dating scene, and they have the stories to back it up. Let’s just say this isn’t the show for people who do high tea and flower crowns for their hen’s nights: there’s a little more crazy involved.

The production is organised as a double act, with each comedian taking turns to share their dating stories, give advice and to take the piss out of one another. They’ll tell you about the meaning of ‘Netflix and Chill’, what you can find on Urban Dictionary, and how to pick the perfect Taylor Swift song to get you through your break-up.

For our show Sophie started off the evening, describing how hard it was to find love in a small country town and offering advice on what to do when you get that unsolicited dick pic from someone you just met online. Alicia followed up with some of her own break-up stories and how you know it’s time to take it to the next level with your significant other when you use their bathroom for something other than peeing-and the disastrous results that can follow.

As it was their first show of the Fringe, it seemed to take a little time for the both of them to warm up and some of the jokes were a bit flat. But once they hit their stride they landed some great jokes about potato bake dicks and biscuit boyfriends. Their stronger material was definitely about the dating scene. The night ended with an audience game of Fuck, Marry, or Kill, which could have been potentially awkward but ended the show on a high note.

For those who have been through the Tinder dating scene and lived to tell the tale, we salute you.
