Senior South Australian of the Year 2015 and all round good guy, John Swan aka Swanee is a South Australian legend. Born in Glasgow, John Swan has been a legend and also a lifesaver to numerous people. This is the man that sings in hospitals, feeds the homeless and helps everyone else who asks in between. However as we know and experienced at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide, Swanee‘s real passion is putting on a very notable rock show. He succeeded.
Hitting the Clipsal 500 Adelaide stage at dusk, Swanee went straight into the much loved Party Boys’ hits combining, Hold Your Head Up and He’s Gonna Step On You Again as the audience fired up. Swanee just delivered hit after hit including crowd favourites, If I Were A Carpenter and Lady, What’s Your Name?. He also added in a couple of new songs off his new album One Day At A Time which went over a treat proving that he may be classed as a senior but hasn’t lost the knack of writing good songs and performing live.
As well as old and new, Swanee threw in a few covers including Tin Soldiers, Evie and High Voltage leaving this Clipsal crowd singing along and wanting more. Swanee’s vocal performance was exceptional and his range and control remarkable and his band of locally renowned musicians were tight and the driving force behind this noteworthy performance.
Swanee is a performer of high calibre and respected by many, he hits the notes, with a melodic charm and has a massive set of lungs allowing him to scream on par with the V8 Supercars! You can see he is visibly moved when the audience sings along with his songs. Swanee’s charm, talent and captivating heart makes any of his shows a mind-blowing experience.
