Swing Dog Circus is a collaborative theme camp born from the Australian regional lifestyle festival – Burning Seed.
Co-creator and Ringmaster Monkey Musique (a.k.a David Wright) has a long history as a DJ that has seen him work both in Australia and globally. Wanting to create a show based around the New Swing/Electro Swing Revolution, The ‘Doggies’ have mixed vintage with the new steam punk culture, blurring the lines between old and new.
With members based worldwide including Australia, New Zealand, Europe, America, The Netherlands and Argentina, this global community is celebrating the world of gypsy carnival filled with all the excitement and fun of the circus mixed with some of the best modern takes on the rebirth of Swing & Gypsy Music, incorporating electro, glitch, drum and bass blended with the spectacular visuals of burlesque, fire-performers, acrobats, swing dancing, snake handling, clowning, belly dancing, illusionists and so much more.
“My role as the Ringmaster is to pull it all together as an overall host directing vision with collaborative participation encouraging a smooth and energetic running show,” Monkey Musique says. “I love that we gather our friends together from across Australia and around the world and bring them to one magical place to share with audiences the joy and excitement of this special high energy spectacular.”
Adelaide Cabaret Fringe Festival audiences will be wooed by the energetic sounds of electro swing and Gypsy from local and international DJs including Ashcats Soundsystem [UK], Rogue No1 [UK], Monkey Musique [AUS], Black Sheep [AUS] and arriving direct on the night from his European tour is local lad The Chief.
Crowds will be tantalised by the alluring exotic serpent dancing goddess Flavella L’Amour [AUS] with her majestic Australian native python, with a whirlwind showgirl glamour and style, lavish and spectacular performances. Also gracing the stage will be Miss Burlesque SA 2015 Finalist Venus De La Rosa in all her dazzling beauty, along with our top shelf fire performers, illusionists, gypsy belly dancers and ‘The Doggies’ high-class Candy Girls.
