Actor, conceptualiser, co-creater and writer of the sitcoms Street Smart and Here Come the Habibs, and most recently fresh out of the African Jungle from the reality television show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!,
Tahir returns to the stage with his brand new production You Had ONE Job! where he explores the stupidity and hilarity of human beings. Supposedly at the top of the food chain, humans are weird and sometimes dangerous in the way they interact and survive – which makes for great comedy!
But first things first, Tahir tells the packed theatre about his amazing experience in the African jungle where none of the celebrities ever knew what time it was and bowel movements were celebrated (haha). And yes! they were actually in the African jungle.
Next, armed with facts, not just jokes, Tahir describes some amusingly daft statistics on Australians to support his act. Did you know, since 1996 thirty one Australians have died from watering their Christmas trees. This could be understood if the trees were out in the garden, but not when the tree is indoors, covered in lights and connected to a power supply?!
Some humans tend to get famous for anything they do – like DJs. Why do they have a title before their stage name when all they do is press play? Songs such as Here’s Johnny, with lyrics consisting of bam-bam-bam-bam-bam etc. And then there are other songs with audacious lyrics!
Although Tahir claims to be maturing with age, his power of observation remains sharp-witted continuing to produce rib-tickling, extremely entertaining comedic banter in this brand new production.
A definite comedy must see at this year’s Adelaide Fringe, but get in quick as only five shows remain!
