[COMEDY/Compilation ~ INTERNATIONAL]

The Piglet at Gluttony, Sat 9 Mar, 2024.

Vladimir McTavish and Gill Cordiner have returned for this year’s Adelaide Fringe with their talk show-styled ‘sit-down’ comedy show. Despite the extreme heat – it was 41 degrees – they had to sit inside a shipping container waiting for their audience to arrive. The two poked fun at the heat throughout their entire performance, and that the seven-person audience was unusual for a weekend [That’d be the heat – Ed.].

McTavish and Cordiner’s quick-thinking improvisation skills kept the laughs coming, but it was their thick Scottish accents that made the show even funnier. Tonight’s talk show ‘guest artists’ were fellow Adelaide Fringe comedians Chris Pucillo (The Parent Trap with Gill Cordiner) and Paul Savage (Actually, I Did Come Here To F**k Spiders). The four of them were just pumping out jokes like there was no tomorrow. They were hilarious!

McTavish and Cordiner bounce off each other so well, firing line after line that kept this small but sweltering crowd in fits of laughter. In fact, I’d like to see them start a podcast together. Their quick comedy style and those awesome accents make for a great team.

The Early Late Show has different guests artists every night, so no two shows are the same. All the more reason to go twice. Both performers were on fire tonight – not just because of the heat – and kept their audience laughing through out. I hope they return in 2025 because I will definitely be there to see them again!

And if you want to see more of these hilarious performers, Gill Cordiner also has a show called Pinky Swears (at Rhino Room), and Vladimir McTavish is part of the Best Of Scottish Comedy (at Laugh Lounge, Basement).

4.5 stars
