[KIDS AND FAMILY/Circus ~ UK]
The Vault at Fool’s Paradise, Sat 22 Feb, 2025.
The Flying Bubble Show promises an enchanting journey, especially for young audiences. Maxwell, the flying bubbleologist blends the magic of bubbles with dreamlike aerial dance, washed in lighting and music which charge the venue with a range of tempo and atmospheric moods throughout the show. The performance is whimsical, inspiring children with a heartfelt message about following their passions, achieving their goals and never giving up.
Technically, Maxwell dazzles with an array of creative bubbles, weaving delicate smoky jewels, surreal jelly blobs, juggling balls, a rising, swirling deluge from the sky and more. While the show was undeniably charming, the debut performance for the Adelaide Fringe wasn’t without its hiccups. Some minor technical difficulties interrupted the flow, demonstrating more than anything, Maxwell’s comfort on stage and ability to make a quick joke. But the biggest challenge for this globe-trotting bubble-ebrity was the arid Adelaide air, which hampered his efforts to deliver the unbelievabubble.
Maxwell, epitomising the message of the show, persisted, put on a wonderfully entertaining act and found humour in the face of his own climate catastrophe. It needs to be noted that this was a particularly hot, dry day and conditions ahead are looking ripe for bigger and better bubbles.
What really made the Flying Bubble Show shine though was its heart. Maxwell’s dedication to inspiring kids to dream big and never give up was demonstrated right before our eyes. Despite the challenges, the atmosphere remained warm and uplifting and the children were clearly engaged and delighted by the graceful spectacle.
