Bakehouse Theatre – Studio, Mon Mar 9

The Home Front, the new show at Bakehouse Theatre, brings a unique type of performance to the Adelaide Fringe Festival: stories based on historical fact yet improvised every night by three main actresses. Directed by Heidi Silberman, the performers improvise based on historical research from actual events and people in order to explore the lives of women during World War 1.

The performances change every night based on what suggestions they will be given by the audience, as well as what props the actors will be working with. The three performers (Catherine Crowley, Luisa Pauletto and Lynn Petersen) all give excellent performances, and the improvisation allows for a new story to be told every night that explores the experience of women during War. But as the performances change, the show always ponders the same question – how are these women similar to us today?

Powerful, humorous and moving, The Home Front is an exceptional exploration of women’s lives and issues during The Great War.

The Home Front continues at Bakehouse Theatre – Studio until Sat Mar 14.
