Tandanya Theatre at Live From Tandanya, Sun 4 Mar.

[CHILDREN’S/PERFORMANCE – SA]

Kids and bubbles – well, at least some of it might have been done before. However this show’s unique difference is the scientific basis on which we, the audience, get to understand how and why things happen – to the point of introducing the idea of using the scientific method – proposing a thesis and testing it.The Scientific Bubble Show - ADLfringe - The Clothesline

I hope that doesn’t sound scary; it’s brilliantly executed by Marty McBubble (Graeme Denton) with several different scenarios and while the littlies might not have entirely understood the situation, those aged about 6+ started to get an inkling, and were quite excited by the concept! As for the younger ones, there was plenty of wow factor to keep them goggle-eyed and intrigued all through this show.

Could we make a cubic bubble? Could we make a bubble go up, instead of fall (slowly) to the ground? Could we make a bubble that was opaque rather than transparent? And along the way, lots of neat tricks, such as bubbles inside bubbles, a bubble merry go round, helium filled bubbles, children inside bubbles and of course a few helpers from the audience.

Lots of fun, plenty to learn and don’t think for a moment that the demystifying takes anything away from the wonder!

This show is available for schools and special events; something I’d recommend to teachers.
